Physical culture and sports in Klimovichi district have rather rich traditions.
Before the creation of sport bodies in the prewar years there were sportsmen, who belonged to the Belarusian National Skiing and Track and Field Athletics Team. Among them are Peter Pusenkov and Boris Davidov, graduate of Leningrad Institute of Physical Culture, who perished in the Finnish campaign (fought in a ski battalion). In 1939 Pavel Kokora, graduate of Minsk Institute of Physical Culture, participated in the first athlete parade in Moscow.

The district's physical culture and sports gained a broad scope during the post-war period.

The district's sports organization became the leader in physical culture and sports development in Mogilev region in 1952. It was recognized as the best sports organization among rural areas of the republic and was awarded with a challenge Red Banner by the region's committee on physical culture and sports.

The sports organization of Klimovichi district won socialist competitions between Mogilev region's districts 38 times and 11 times among Belarusian regions.

According to the 1984 performance, Urozhai sports organization under Klimovichi district administration took the 1st place among rural areas of the Soviet Union and was awarded with the 1st degree diploma and the Red Banner of Sports Organizations Central Council under the USSR trade unions.

The Klimovichi district's sports organization has been awarded with 12 memorable and challenge Red Banners by the Committees on Physical Culture and Sports under the Council of Ministers of the Belarusian republic and under Mogilev region's administration, by Belarusian republic Central Council of Urozhai sports organization and Belarusian republic trade unions. The district's sports organization has won about hundred of diplomas and pennons for its successful participation in regional and republican sports events.

Over 150 challenge and memorable prizes (cups) have been won by the Klimovichi district sportsmen on regional, republican and all-Union competitions.

Klimovichi district, the winner of the 1st region's sports and athletics meeting dedicated to USSR peoples sports and athletics meeting, which was held in 1984, was presented with the Mogilev region's honorary prize.

According to the results of the 1st sports and athletics meeting of collective farms of Belarusian republic held in the village of Lubcha, Novogrudok district, the team of Karl Marx collective farm took the 2nd place and was awarded with a pennon of the Ministry of Agriculture.

In 1955 the district's skiers participated in the region's winter sports and athletics meeting and took the 1st place among Mogilev region's districts and the city of Mogilev having demonstrated high sporting skills and were acknowledged the strongest skiers in Mogilev region.

Miloslavichi sportsmen under the direction of coach Ilia Vasilenko, teacher of a Miloslavichi school, won the 1957 rural sports and athletics meeting of collective and state farms of Mogilev region.

Level of sports and mass activities increases each year in the district. New physical culture collectives assigned the "collective of advanced progress" rank have appeared. Among them are Russia collective farm of Miloslavichi agricultural administration, Lenin collective farm, Timonovo state farm, Klimovichi machine and tractor station.

Klimovichi technical school was the first one in the republic to be awarded with Sports Club Ogonek honorary title.

Since 1956 hundreds of the best district's sportsmen were directed to Minsk Institute of Physical Culture. Dozens of them have become outstanding sportsmen, heads of sports organizations.

Among them are Aleksei Boltovski - international class master of sports, candidate of pedagogical sciences, prize-winner of the largest world, Europe and the USSR hammer throwing competitions;

Vyacheslav Tolkachev - world biathlon champion, international class master of sports, a USSR biathlon team member;
Vladimir Morkashevski - senior coach of the Belarusian Olympic reserve, USSR master of sports;

Vladimir Derevyaschenko - master of sports candidate, director of Kaluga-based large sports facility;

Vladimir Ryzhenkov - Belarusian Minister of Sports and Tourism, chairman of the National Olympic Committee.

Within the 40-year postwar period Klimovichi district prepared 48 USSR masters of sports, 64 USSR masters of sports candidates, thousands of the 1st grade sportsmen in various sports.

The Klimovichi district's sports organization has been recognized as one of the leading in Belarus. As many as 60-65 district's competitions in 18 sports are held in the district each year. Among the main sport events are traditionally held year-round sports and athletics meetings:

- "Health" sports and athletics meeting;
- sports and athletics meeting of rural athletes;
- sports and athletics meeting of draftees;
- sports and athletics meeting dedicated to All-Union Day of Athletes;
- sports and athletics meeting of agriculture workers.

Around 12-15 thousand persons participate in the district's competitions each year. About 2.5-3 thousand sportsmen get sports grades in Klimovichi district yearly.

Over the last years the Klimovichi district's sports organization has remarkably increased. As many as 60 physical culture workers including 36 physical culture specialists work in the district. There is a specialized youth sports school and committee on physical culture and sports in the district. Hundreds of sports areas and sports facilities have been constructed. Two stadiums, seven sport halls and four shooting galleries have been built within the town's territory.

The majority of teams have a good sports base: Timonovo livestock breeding farm, Yanka Kupala collective farm, construction materials plant, Hero of Labour collective farm, collective farm - technical school, Sosnovka collective farm, auto park No. 9.
