Surface of Klimovichi district is plateau-shaped; in some places it is undulate sloping to the south. Loess-like stratum hills ranging from 10 to 15 meters form intermittent ridges in the Iput source.
There are deposits of such mineral resources as peat, chalk, marl, silicate sands and clay in the district. Climate in Klimovichi district is moderately continental. Winters are mild and summers are warm. Average January temperature - minus 7.8 degrees Celsius, average July temperature - plus 18.5 degrees Celsius. Precipitations total 610 mms annually. The growing season lasts 185 days. The Sozh river with Iput, Lobzhanka, Oster (with Sosnovka) confluents and the Zhedunka and Surov rivers (right confluents of the Besed river) flow across the district. Miloslavichi water storage pool is situated on the river Iput.
Soils of agricultural lands are sod-podzol developing on fluvio-glacial loamy sands. Over-moistened soils make up 50.8% in Klimovichi district, up to 20% of arable land is waterlogged.
Forests occupy 34% of the district's territory including 30.5% of man-made forests. There are small areas of fir forests but pine bush and moss, aspen and birch forests are widespread. Gramineous, motley grass and fabaceous meadows prevail in the district. Moors cover 4% of the district's territory. As many as 345 hectares of land are drained. Bulgagovskoe, Famino, Savskoe and Bolshoi Mokh are the district's largest bog arrears. Monuments of nature in Klimovichi district are fir forest in Gireevichi and Klimovichi forestries, birch forests in Penkovka and Gusarkov forestries.
